You’re Not Broken—You’re Brave

Posted on June 6, 2025 by Kate

There’s this idea we carry—quiet and heavy—that if we feel too much, cry too often, or get overwhelmed by the weight of things, then something must be wrong with us. That maybe we’re too sensitive. Too emotional. Too weak.

But the truth is, feeling deeply isn’t a flaw. It’s a strength. It means we’ve let life touch us. It means we didn’t shut ourselves down when things got hard. We didn’t numb everything away or build walls so high that nothing could reach us. We stayed open, even when it hurt.

And that takes courage. Because letting yourself feel after loss, after disappointment, after betrayal—that’s brave. Sitting with grief instead of running from it—that’s brave. Loving again, trusting again, even when your heart still remembers the last time it broke—that’s the bravest thing I know.

You’re not broken. You’re someone who’s lived through real things and hasn’t stopped feeling. You still care. You still hope. You still show up. And that matters.

This kind of bravery doesn’t always look bold. Sometimes it’s quiet and teary and exhausted. Sometimes it’s just getting out of bed. But every time you choose to feel instead of shut down, to stay soft instead of going numb—you’re healing. You’re growing. And you are not broken. You are beautifully, bravely human.
