Trusting God Completely in Business: A Journey of Faith Over Strategy

Posted on September 9, 2024 by Kate

Sometimes, we wonder how we can achieve success in this world, especially given the challenges we face. For example, I run a company called Graceful, and I decided a while back that I wouldn’t advertise my business. Instead, I chose to trust in God to bring clients. When I look at it, I realise that God created everything and owns everything. While the world may rely on advertising, I’ve decided to rely fully on God.

God created us to be dependent on Him for everything, which is why He told Moses, “I Am Who I Am” (Exodus 3:14 NLT), meaning He is everything we need at every moment. God delights when we depend on Him instead of our own strength. As the Bible says, “This foolish plan of God is wiser than the wisest of human plans, and God’s weakness is stronger than the greatest of human strength” (1 Corinthians 1:25 NLT).

I wanted Graceful to be set apart, holy, and distinct from the negative perceptions people may have of the domestic work industry. This is what sets us apart. I decided that even our marketing would rely on God, much like Noah did when he obeyed God’s command to build the ark. Noah didn’t have to call out to the animals or convince them to enter the ark—God brought them to him.

“So Noah did everything exactly as God had commanded him” (Genesis 6:22 NLT). God motivated the animals to come on their own. Sometimes, that’s how God works—He brings things to us without our effort, while other times, He asks us to act. Noah had to build the ark, but God brought the animals. This shows how God works with us, doing what we cannot, while allowing us to do what we can. We should consider it a privilege to work for God’s promises.

In the same way, I did what God asked me to do. I opened the business He called me to start, and now I trust Him to bring the right people to us. Even when business seems slow, I hold on to the truth that even God’s “weakness is stronger than the greatest of human strength” (1 Corinthians 1:25 NLT).

God created us to be fully dependent on Him in every aspect of life. When we need strength, He is our strength. When we need peace, He becomes Jehovah Shalom, our peace. When we need provision, He is Jehovah Jireh, our provider. And when we need protection, He becomes Jehovah Nissi, our banner of victory. “For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory” (Deuteronomy 20:4 NLT).

When we make God our everything, everything falls into place. Praise God, and have a blessed day!
