Our children learn most from watching us move through the world. They see how we treat others, how we respond to stress, how we hold space for discomfort, and how we honour ourselves.

So when I say I teach honesty, it means I try to be honest myself. Not just in big, dramatic moments—but in the quiet, everyday ways. Admitting when I don’t know something. Owning up when I make a mistake. Being truthful without being cruel.

I teach consent by asking for it, not just expecting it. I knock before entering their room. I ask if they want a hug. I show them that their body is their own and that “no” is a word that deserves respect, even when it’s spoken to me.

I teach boundaries by holding my own gently but firmly. By saying, “I need a break right now” instead of pushing past my limits to please. And I help them find their own voice to say, “I’m not okay with that” or “Please stop.”

And I teach curiosity—because life isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about being open enough to ask the questions. To wonder. To explore ideas and people and places with respect, not fear.

My child deserves more than just rules. They deserve a real, living example of what it looks like to move through life with integrity, kindness, and courage. So that’s what I try to give them—one lived lesson at a time.

“I teach what I live: honesty, consent, boundaries, and curiosity.” Parenting isn’t just about what we say—it’s about how we […]

[3,4,5,6,2,7,8

post-3535","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-at-home-in-my-body","category-coming-back-to-myself","category-life-and-livelihood","category-love-redefined","category-notes-from-life","category-raising-humans","category-the-quiet-bloom
["GET
