It doesn’t ask if we’ve healed enough, planned enough, or figured everything out. It just keeps moving—quietly, steadily, sometimes even painfully—pulling us along whether we feel ready or not.

There were moments I wanted to press pause. To catch my breath. To stay a little longer in what felt familiar, even if it was hurting me. But life didn’t freeze for me. Bills kept coming. The sun still rose. My children still needed breakfast. The ache didn’t wait to be scheduled. The healing didn’t come in tidy chapters. And yet, somehow, forward I went.

This truth can feel overwhelming, but it also carries a strange kind of freedom. If life keeps flowing, I don’t need to have all the answers before I step in. I don’t have to be perfectly healed or fully certain to begin again. I just need to keep choosing movement—to take the next small step, even if my hands shake.

Because the river never stops. And maybe the courage isn’t in being ready—it’s in flowing anyway. Trusting that I’ll find my way midstream. Trusting that, like water, I’ll shape what I need to, and soften what once felt unmovable. Life flows forward. So will I.

Life doesn’t sit still and wait for us to feel brave.
