The peace that God gives is so great that we cannot understand it.”

Job 5:7 ICB

“[7] But man is born to have trouble as surely as sparks fly upward.”

Trouble is part of life—whether it’s sickness, struggles in business, or the challenges of waiting for answers. As Job reminds us, “man is born to have trouble as surely as sparks fly upward.” Yet, God’s peace transcends these troubles, not by removing them, but by shifting our focus from our circumstances to Jesus Christ.

Imagine someone who is sick. The natural reaction might be to dwell on the pain, the discomfort, or the uncertainty of recovery. But the key is to turn their focus—heart and mind—toward Jesus Christ. Instead of meditating on the sickness, they can meditate on who Jesus is: their healer, their comforter, and their source of hope. In doing so, they will experience the peace that only God can give.

Or consider someone whose business isn’t doing well. Clients aren’t coming, bills are piling up, and failure seems inevitable. It’s easy to let worry consume the heart and mind, but instead of focusing on the lack, they are called to fix their gaze on Jesus. When we choose to stay focused on Him, His peace fills us, even when the external situation remains the same.

I, too, have been navigating a personal challenge. I applied to further my education, but the process has been unusually long. Even after visiting the school physically, I left without a clear answer. This uncertainty has been heavy on my heart, but today, this word reminded me of the importance of focus. Rather than fixating on my unanswered application and the frustration it brings, I am learning to place my heart and mind on Jesus. When I do, I experience His peace—a peace that reassures me He is in control, even when I don’t have all the answers.

The peace of God doesn’t remove the challenges; it changes our perspective. It allows us to navigate difficulties with calm and assurance because our hearts and minds are stayed on Jesus. Remember, as John 1 teaches us, Jesus is the Word of God. Immerse yourself in Scripture, and let it guide you to the peace that surpasses all understanding.

Whatever you’re going through today, let your heart and mind be focused on Jesus Christ. It’s there, in His presence, that you will find the peace that only God can give.

Have a beautiful day. 🖤

Philippians 4:7 ICB “[7] And God’s peace will keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
