The hardest soil produces the strongest roots—my challenges build my strength.

Posted on March 26, 2026 by Kate

There are seasons in life that feel almost impossible to survive. Times when everything feels dry, heavy, and unmovable. Like nothing is blooming, nothing is going right, and hope feels so far away. But even in those moments—especially in those moments—something quiet and powerful is happening beneath the surface.

Strong roots don’t grow in soft, easy soil. They grow in resistance. In difficulty. In the kind of ground that forces them to push deeper, stretch wider, and anchor themselves with everything they’ve got. And maybe that’s what’s happening to me in the middle of this hard season. Maybe I’m growing roots that will hold me steady for whatever comes next.

It’s easy to wish for ease. To want light and softness all the time. But the truth is, the most grounded parts of me were built through struggle. Through heartbreak, uncertainty, loss, and starting over. Those were the moments that taught me who I am—what I value, what I’ll fight for, how much I can carry and still rise.

So no, I won’t glamorize pain. But I will honour what it’s shaped in me. Because every time I’ve faced hard soil, I’ve come out stronger. Wiser. More rooted in myself.

And I know this: what grows from deep roots doesn’t get shaken easily.
